I just realized that I forgot to add this last installment of my trip report! So here it is, almost a month after I returned, with a quick report on the beautiful Pacific coast of Oregon.
The first place I visited was Astoria, Oregon. This is a lovely little city on the Columbia River, where Lewis and Clark ended their exhibition. I climbed the Astoria column (which is free) and took this picture of the city and river.
Not far down the road, I came to Tillamook, home of the famous Tillamook cheddar. I just had to stop for a few pictures. It looks like a little bit of Wisconsin stuck by the mountains and ocean.
The next day, i travelled down the coastline and took lots of pictures of the rocky shoreline. It really is amazing and probably the most beautiful coastline in this country.
I stopped for a while to tour the Yaquina Head lighthouse area (?). There were lots of birds along with an amazing tidepool area. Here are a few pictures here as well.
I can’t really describe what the coast was like and I don’t think pictures do it justice either.
Here is another smaller lighthouse.
The southern part of the state has a much more “california” look to it. Very pretty also, but less rocky.

More great pictures! The lighthouse with the yellow flowers in the foreground looks cool. I also like the picture of the bridge and the water. They are very professional looking.
I was just showing my dad your pictures, he likes them. We think the birds look like penguins.
